Every new year brings new hopes. So does the Buddhist new year, called Vesak (or Wesak, or Vesakha, or Waisak in Indonesian). Hopes are uttered in various ways, and it’s lanterns with Buddhists – among other ways, I believe.

I was blessed to attend and be a little part of the turning to year 2556 BE (Buddhist Era) at the largest Buddhist temple in the world, Borobudur, yesterday. A trip so highly anticipated. And the hopeful lanterns sure made my Waisak trip 🙂
