October 2nd was declared to be the National Batik Day in Indonesia starting last year, 2009. Lots of people were wearing batik motifs on the streets to commemorate it. Here’s a lady in Solo’s Danar Hadi batik workshop showing how a traditional kind of batik is made, with the wax-resist dyeing technique using a canting.
