February 2010
Gong Xi! Gong Xi!
It was a cloudy yet cool Saturday on the 13th of February. Me and Vira were just either taking loong sleeps (mostly me) or working on our homework (mostly Vira). But we thought, rather then just staying at home, we thought we might go stroll along the streets of Petak Sembilan or a china town district around Glodok, North of Jakarta. We would also see a fortune teller because on these days of celebration, fortune tellers go look for fortune.
Petak Sembilan is a very old district in Jakarta and is where many Chinese ethincity live and do what they do best, trading. But wait, let me rephrase that, the Chinese ethnicity doesn't not like the term Chinese. These Chinese decendants were born, raise, lived and died in Indonesia for generations. They refuse to be called Chinese because they're Indonesians. Makes sense actually! They are now referred as the Tionghoa ethnicity.
On Chinese New Years, Tionghoa famalies come together. What I though would be a huge celebration, turns out to be a mere party but a serious holy day to pray. The huge partay will be held 14 days after new years day and is called Cap Gomeh. But in the meantime, we'll just fill you up with some 'shots' of our night out. Click here!

Hi, this is a special entry to fulfil an Indohoy reader's need of info. We were supposed to reply to their email, but somehow the email delivery failed. Wanting to help out as much as we can, and still waiting for a new blog column being developed by our dear programmer Tiva, we thought why not reply the email here.
So, Cumidaniciki, wherever you are now, here's for you. And may the info will be helpful for others too :)
(check out our "Venture" tab for the info)

Hey guys, meet Renny! Renny is a dear friend of Indohoy, having the same interest and opportunities to see Indonesia, and having a huge the drive to try new things. Her trip to Manado was on a business trip but it didn't stop her from having a little fun in between, enjoying what she can!

(By the way, Mumun will butt in a little just adding some information from past trips, long before Indohoy)
Nov 2009 - Jan 2010
Bandung, the capital city of West Java, has a special place in my heart. I lived there through the secon half of high school and the whole of college years. Mumun was born, raised, and finished education until college graduation in Bandung as well. So we were definitely eager to make an entry about the city that's called "Paris van Java" but it took us awhile how we were gonna do it. We love the city so much, we know much about it, so we were afraid if we didn't do it perfectly. But finally we thought, oh what the heck. Nothing in this world is perfect anyway.
So, before making a travel entry about Bandung, I'm just gonna give you this: snapshots of Bandung which I took in 2 trips - one was in November 2009, and the other was at the 2010 New Year's Eve week. Most of them are pics of food and places to eat. What can I say, people do come to Bandung for its food variety, among others.
Just click here for pictures.
Enjoy :)

July 2009
We headed out from Surabaya the next morning. Man… it’s been some trip and it seems like it will never end… AND THAT’S A GOOD THING BECAUSE IT FELT GREAT! We bid our farewell to Piki, leaving him a house moderately messy. It’s always melancholic, saying good byes to close friends that now live in other cities and has started their own lives. But it is a good kind :)
